Barcelona Terminates Contracts of Rolfö and Roebuck

Barcelona have reached agreements to terminate the contracts of Fridolina Rolfö and Ellie Roebuck a year earlier than planned, the Catalan club announced on Monday.

Both the Swedish international, Rölfo, and the English goalkeeper, Roebuck, had contracts with Barça until 2026, but they are now free to look for new clubs this summer.

A source close to the club indicated that Roebuck is on his way to sign for Aston Villa, a Women’s Super League team.

Rölfo, 31 years old, has been a key player in the success of Barça for the last four years since her arrival from German Wolfsburg.

During her time at the club, she has won 13 titles, including four Liga F titles and two Champions Leagues.

Despite primarily playing as a left-back after arriving as a winger, he managed to score 38 goals and create 37 assists in his 129 appearances.

Currently, he is at the European Championship in Switzerland with Sweden, preparing for the Group C match against Poland on Tuesday.

Roebuck, 25, joined Barca last summer from Manchester City, but was only able to play two matches while continuing his recovery from a stroke he suffered before joining the club.

Finally, he debuted against Real Betis last December in a 4-1 victory and played again at the beginning of this year in a surprising 2-1 defeat against Levante.

Ellie Roebuck: “My time as a player for this incredible club has come to an end. It’s difficult to express in words how special this last year has been, one of the most significant of my career, for many reasons. Wearing this shirt, going out to the Johan Cruyff stadium, feeling the support of the fans… it’s something I will carry with me forever.”
