Tkachuk, Senators captain, under evaluation after defeat: Injury?

OTTAWA, Ontario – The Ottawa Senators, after falling 4-1 to the Nashville Predators on Monday, finished the last nine minutes of the third period without their captain, Brady Tkachuk. Tkachuk suffered an elbowing charge from Predators defenseman Roman Josi early in the first period, which caused him to hit the boards in an unusual way. He grabbed his right forearm as he got up, and although he continued to play, he didn’t look entirely comfortable.

Obviously he didn’t finish the game, he tried. I don’t have any news. He’s being evaluated at the moment.

Travis Green, Senators coach
Green avoided classifying Tkachuk’s absence as a precautionary measure, but did confirm that it was a consequence of the hit in the first period. The Senators are already without forward Drake Batherson, so losing Tkachuk, even for a short period, would represent a considerable challenge.
