Kyle Connor Signs Million-Dollar Extension with the Winnipeg Jets
The Winnipeg Jets have secured one of their offensive stars, Kyle Connor, with an eight-year, $96 million contract extension, prior to the start of the regular season.
This agreement represents the most lucrative contract in the franchise’s history, a recognition of Connor’s consistency and performance. Selected 17th overall in the 2015 draft, Connor has proven to be a key player for the Jets.
Connor has surpassed 30 goals in seven of his eight full NHL seasons and has scored more than 40 goals in two of the last four campaigns.
In the 2024-25 season, Connor recorded his best performance, with 56 assists and 97 points in 82 games, establishing himself among the top 20 scorers in the NHL since 2021, both in goals (153) and points (331).
Last season, Winnipeg led the league with 116 points, although they were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs against Dallas. Connor’s renewal is crucial for the Jets to maintain their position as contenders in the Western Conference.
The team’s core includes goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, winner of the Hart and Vezina Trophies, center Mark Scheifele, and defenseman Josh Morrissey.
Connor, 28, joins Scheifele, Gabriel Vilardi and Neal Pionk, who are also secured with the Jets until 2030.
This could be a great year for Connor, who represented Team USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off in February and participated in the Olympic orientation camp during the summer, in preparation for the return of NHL players to the 2026 Milan-Cortina Games.
Winnipeg will play its first game of the season on Thursday at home against the Stars.
