Kyle Connor Signs Million-Dollar Extension with the Winnipeg Jets
The Winnipeg Jets secure their offensive star Kyle Connor with an eight-year, $96 million contract extension, thus solidifying his position in the NHL.
This agreement represents the most lucrative contract in the franchise’s history, a testament to Connor’s consistent performance. Selected 17th overall in 2015, Connor has proven to be a prolific scorer, surpassing 30 goals in seven of his eight full NHL seasons and reaching 40 goals in two of the last four campaigns.
In the 2024-25 season, Connor achieved his personal best with 56 assists and 97 points in 82 games. Since 2021, he has been positioned among the top 20 NHL players in goals (153) and points (331).
Last season, Winnipeg led the league with 116 points, although their playoff run was stopped in the second round against Dallas. Connor’s renewal was crucial to keep the team as a contender in the Western Conference.
The Jets’ core includes goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, winner of the Hart and Vezina Trophies; center Mark Scheifele; and defenseman Josh Morrissey.
Connor, 28, joins Scheifele, Gabriel Vilardi, and Neal Pionk as players secured until 2030.
This could be a significant year for Connor. He represented Team USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off in February and participated in the summer Olympic orientation camp, anticipating the return of NHL players to the 2026 Milan-Cortina Games.
Winnipeg will play its first game of the season on Thursday at home against the Stars.
