Minnesota Frost Ties PWHL Finals Series with Overtime Win

OTTAWA, Ontario – In an exciting match that kept fans on the edge of their seats, Britta Curl-Salemme became the hero of the night, scoring the tying goal with only 16 seconds remaining in regulation time and then sealing the victory in overtime, giving the Minnesota Frost a crucial 2-1 win over the Ottawa Charge this Thursday night. With this result, the PWHL final series is tied at one game apiece.

The first game of the series, which is played to the best of five, also ended with a score of 2-1, but in favor of Ottawa, last Tuesday, also in overtime. The third game of this exciting final is scheduled for Saturday in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Thursday’s game was full of tension. Ottawa took the lead thanks to a goal by Jocelyne Larocque with 2 minutes and 35 seconds left in regulation time. However, Minnesota’s persistence paid off when, on a power play and with goalie Maddie Rooney out for an extra attacker, Curl-Salemme took advantage of a rebound to tie the score with only 16 seconds on the clock.

In overtime, the action remained frenetic. Amidst a struggle for control of the puck, Curl-Salemme found the puck in the danger area and did not hesitate to send it to the net, surpassing Gwyneth Philips and securing the victory for the Frost.

Minnesota’s goaltender, Maddie Rooney, proved her worth by stopping 37 shots, while Ottawa’s Gwyneth Philips made 22 saves.
