Anaheim Ducks Secure Jackson LaCombe with Multi-Year Extension

The Anaheim Ducks have secured the continuity of defenseman Jackson LaCombe, a key piece in their rebuilding process, through an eight-year contract extension, the team announced. The agreement, which will begin in the 2026-27 season and extend until 2033-34, has an average annual value of $9 million. LaCombe’s contract represents the largest awarded by the Ducks in their history. Currently, LaCombe has one year remaining on a two-year bridge contract with an average annual value of $925,000, signed in 2024.

Extending LaCombe was a priority for the team.

Pat Verbeek, Ducks General Manager
Anaheim general manager Pat Verbeek stated that extending LaCombe was a “priority” for the team. Verbeek highlighted that the young defenseman possesses “all the tools to be a mainstay on our defense for many years.” LaCombe, 24, was selected in the 39th overall pick of the 2019 NHL draft. In 148 NHL games, he has accumulated 60 points, with 14 goals and 29 assists in 75 games last season for the Ducks. He formed an effective defensive pairing with veteran defenseman Radko Gudas. LaCombe expressed that it was an “easy decision” to commit long-term to Anaheim.

I love being here. I love playing here. I love all my teammates.

Jackson LaCombe
LaCombe, a Minnesota alumnus, was invited to the U.S. men’s team’s Olympic orientation camp, positioning him to compete for a spot on the 2026 hockey team that will seek gold in Italy. In addition, LaCombe contributed to the United States’ victory at the 2025 world championship. LaCombe is the first player to renew his contract from the Ducks’ large class of restricted free agents coming up next summer. In the last week, this is the second big signing for Verbeek. The Ducks and center Mason McTavish agreed to a six-year, $42 million extension on Saturday. Anaheim is looking for its first playoff berth since 2018.
