Brock Boeser Secures His Future with the Canucks: Seven-Year Contract Extension

The Vancouver Canucks have reached an agreement with forward Brock Boeser for a seven-year contract extension, with an average annual value of $7.25 million. The Canucks’ general manager, Patrik Allvin, announced the deal on Tuesday during the first hour of NHL free agency. Boeser, 28, was an unrestricted free agent after his previous contract expired.
Selected by Vancouver in the 23rd position in the 2015 NHL draft, Boeser has accumulated 204 goals and 434 points in 554 games with the Canucks to date. Considered a top-six scoring threat, Boeser possesses exceptional playmaking skills and the potential to generate big offensive numbers. His best offensive year was in 2023-24, producing 40 goals and 73 points in 81 games. Although he didn’t reach those figures last season, with 25 goals and 50 points in 75 games, he still remained the second-highest scoring player on the team. Boeser also plays an important role in Vancouver’s power play and, when he generates opportunities in 5-on-5 situations, he is a true difference-maker for the Canucks up front. This extension represents a happy ending for both Vancouver and Boeser. When the regular season ended, Boeser admitted it was “difficult to say” if he would return to the Canucks. According to reports, Boeser rejected a previous five-year extension offer from the club, and Allvin subsequently explored trade options for him at the March deadline, without finding any interested parties. Boeser seemed, and sounded, prepared to explore his options on the open market. Finally, Boeser decided to stay, committing the best years of his career to the Canucks.
