Jameson Williams Signs Extension with the Lions for 83 Million

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams has agreed to a three-year contract extension, with a maximum value of $83 million. The news comes less than 24 hours before the start of the season in Green Bay, securing the player’s future.

Williams, 24, is coming off his first season with over 1,000 receiving yards and was entering the final year of his rookie contract. He is expected to take on a more significant role alongside All-Pro receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and new offensive coordinator John Morton.

The Lions moved up 20 spots to select Williams with the 12th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Since then, the player has shown remarkable development, excelling in 2024 with seven receiving touchdowns and adding 61 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.

With the main group of players returning, Williams anticipates a “fun” 2025 season for Detroit, feeling he has made the biggest strides in becoming a more complete receiver during the preseason.

As you come in, I felt like I was being used in certain ways, but now the doors are opening for the coaches to use me in different ways. So there are a lot more ways they’re using me and I just focused on everything. Jameson Williams

This agreement highlights the Lions’ confidence in Williams’ potential, who is projected as a key piece in the team’s offense in the coming seasons.
