Vikings: Blake Cashman to injured reserve with hamstring injury

EAGAN, Minn. – The Minnesota Vikings face a significant setback following the injury of their linebacker Blake Cashman.

Cashman, Out with Injury

Cashman will be out of action for at least a month due to a hamstring injury suffered during Monday night’s game against the Chicago Bears, where the Vikings secured a 27-24 victory. The Vikings have placed Cashman, who is the main person in charge of defensive signals, and running back/kick returner Ty Chandler (knee) on the injured reserve list on Thursday, which will keep them out for at least the next four games. The team is also keeping an eye on the situation of several key players:
  • Safety Harrison Smith (personal health issue)
  • Left tackle Christian Darrisaw (knee)
  • Linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel (concussion protocol)
  • Cornerback Jeff Okudah (concussion protocol)
  • Tight end Josh Oliver (ankle)
  • Center Ryan Kelly (toe)
Cashman’s injury occurred while pursuing Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams on the sideline on Monday night. He is likely to be replaced in the starting lineup by veteran Eric Wilson, whom the Vikings signed as a free agent this offseason. The Vikings also signed tight end Nick Vannett from their practice squad, which could indicate Oliver’s situation. In addition, the team has added Tyrek Funderburk and Sione Takitaki to its practice squad.
