Titans: Brian Callahan Ignores Criticism After Defeat and Pressure

The Tennessee Titans’ fanbase expresses their frustration after another defeat, this time against the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 41-20, which puts the team at a record of 0-3. The fans began chanting “Fire Callahan!” during halftime, as the team, led by coach Brian Callahan, retreated to the locker room with a 20-6 deficit. Despite the chants and boos, Callahan stated that he is not affected.

I don’t really care about that, to be honest. My focus is on ensuring that our football team is in the best possible position and the rest of those things are what they are. I don’t think about those things, and you really can’t. This is difficult enough to add those other things and think about that. It doesn’t do anyone any good. So, I’m just going to work and work as hard as I can. I put as much effort as I can into this and that’s what it is.

In his second season as Titans coach, Callahan has a 3-17 record. Callahan’s indecision in a crucial play was evident at the end of the first half. With 46 seconds remaining and on fourth down and one yard to go on the Colts’ 39-yard line, Callahan called a timeout to consider the play. Finally, he decided on a field goal attempt, but a delay of game penalty delayed the attempt by Joey Slye, who missed the attempt. Callahan explained that he hadn’t decided what to do and that they were considering the option of the fourth down or the field goal. The Titans have fired a head coach or general manager in the last three seasons. Callahan could be the fourth if he fails to turn things around quickly. The Titans will face three consecutive away games, starting against the Houston Texans next week, followed by trips to the west coast to face the Arizona Cardinals and the Las Vegas Raiders. The Titans have been outscored by their opponents with a combined score of 94-51 in the first three games. The Titans quarterback, Cam Ward, has expressed his support for Callahan, defending his continuity and expressing his desire to continue playing for him. Ward, sharing Callahan’s stance on the public’s reaction, stated:

I don’t really care about that. We didn’t do enough to win the game today. If I were them, I’d be upset too. I’m trying to win football games like them. So, if that’s what they’re going to do, we have to focus as a group in the locker room and keep motivating ourselves, pushing ourselves, and trying to get a win.
