Stafford in Recovery: Rams Take Precautions

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who is dealing with a back injury, will have a training session on Saturday and is expected to return to practice on Monday, according to head coach Sean McVay. Stafford hasn’t participated in training camp practices due to back discomfort. McVay revealed on Thursday that Stafford received an epidural as part of the recovery plan.

We’ve taken a very cautious approach, but if we were playing a game this week, he would be playing.

Stafford will not participate in the Rams’ joint practice against the Chargers on Wednesday due to “uncontrolled parameters” when facing another team, McVay explained. The Rams consider Saturday morning’s training at the team’s facilities as the start of their acclimatization period.

Gradually reintegrating it and being able to rebuild it is the smartest thing.

McVay added that, “for now, everything is on track for [Stafford] to have a good month of work” before the Rams start the season against the Houston Texans. On Thursday, Rams outside linebacker Jared Verse left practice early after a knee-to-knee collision with defensive end Braden Fiske.

We hope it will be okay in the end.

The Rams will play against the Dallas Cowboys in their first preseason game on Saturday, although the team generally does not field its starters during the preseason.
