NFL: Stars with gold patch in 2025; Allen, Barkley, and more

2 Min Read

In an unprecedented initiative, the NFL will honor its most outstanding players from the previous season with a special insignia on their uniforms.

Golden Patch for the MVPs

Starting from the 2025 season, the winners of the five Associated Press (AP) awards will wear a gold patch on their jerseys. This patch, inspired by the NFL Honors logo, will replace the traditional NFL shield on the collar of the jersey.

Among the players who will wear this badge are:

  • Josh Allen (MVP)
  • Saquon Barkley (Offensive Player of the Year)
  • Pat Surtain II (Defensive Player of the Year)
  • Jayden Daniels (Offensive Rookie of the Year)
  • Jared Verse (Defensive Rookie of the Year)
These golden patches will be present on the players’ jerseys throughout the entire regular season and the 2025 playoffs. The debut of these badges will take place in the season’s opening game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. Josh Allen will debut his patch on Sunday night against the Baltimore Ravens and their quarterback Lamar Jackson, who finished second in the MVP voting. This program is expected to be maintained for the upcoming NFL seasons. This initiative follows in the footsteps of MLB, which also introduced golden logos to recognize the achievements of its players.
