NFL 2025 Preseason Week 3 Recap

The third week of the 2025 NFL preseason is underway, with teams finalizing their rosters before the Tuesday 4 p.m. ET deadline to reduce rosters to 53 players. Here’s a summary of the matches and predictions for the 53-player rosters of each team.

Thursday Results

Giants 42, Patriots 10

The Giants appear to have secured some spots at the bottom of the roster. Art Green may have solidified his place as the fifth cornerback with a solid tackling performance, accumulating five in the first half. D.J. Davidson also contributed with a blocked pass and forcing a penalty near the end zone. As for the quarterback position, Tommy DeVito impressed, completing 15 of his first 17 passes and throwing a touchdown in each of his first three series. However, he is likely to be the player left out of the quarterback group. Next game: against the Washington Commanders (September 7, 1 p.m. ET) The Patriots lined up few offensive and defensive players who would be considered potential starters. The competition for the kicker position was a highlight, with rookie Andy Borregales competing against Parker Romo. Borregales missed a 49-yard field goal in the first half, but then scored a 30-yard one and an extra point. Romo did not have the opportunity to kick, indicating a close competition during training camp. Next game: against the Las Vegas Raiders (September 7, 1 p.m. ET)

Steelers 19, Panthers 10

The Steelers’ defensive line suffered a possible significant loss when rookie Derrick Harmon was taken off the field with a knee injury and quickly ruled out. Coach Mike Tomlin indicated that the player was being evaluated. The situation could lead the Steelers to seek a trade option or an addition before cut day. Next game: against the New York Jets (September 7, 1 p.m. ET) The Panthers had an inactive list of 33 players. Wide receiver Brycen Tremayne did not play, while veterans Hunter Renfrow and David Moore did. Tremayne could have an advantage for the sixth or seventh receiver spot, or the team might want to keep him secret to add him to the practice squad if he doesn’t make the 53-player roster. Renfrow and Moore could be being evaluated for possible trades. Next game: against the Jacksonville Jaguars (September 7, 1 p.m. ET)
