Tampa, Fla. – Mike Evans, star wide receiver for the Buccaneers, suffered a hamstring injury during the game against the New York Jets last Sunday, being ruled out for the rest of the game.
Evans, who leads the franchise in all-time scoring, was injured in the final quarter and limped off the bench, visibly frustrated.
The receiver, known for his previous hamstring problems, missed three games last year and another three in 2019 due to similar injuries.
Mike Evans is the only player in league history to record 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first 11 seasons. In addition, he ties with Jerry Rice, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, for the most consecutive 1,000-yard seasons (a record he could break this year).
The Buccaneers are also without Chris Godwin, Pro Bowl wide receiver, who is recovering from ankle surgery, and Jalen McMillan, who suffered a neck injury in the second preseason game and is not expected to return until after the team’s bye week.
Rookie Emeka Egbuka played against the Jets despite hip and groin issues before the game.
