LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay revealed that he suffered a plantar fascia rupture while leading his team to victory over the Tennessee Titans last Sunday.McVay made this statement during his “Coach McVay Show” program produced by the Rams on Monday night. The young coach, a Super Bowl winner, did not specify the exact moment of the injury, but it is presumed to have occurred while requesting a timeout during the game, which ended with a score of 33-19 in favor of the Rams.

“The foot is fine,” McVay commented. “Yes, I tore my plantar fascia. It’s a good thing, I guess, because it allows recovery to be a little faster. I was being a bit dramatic, limping at the end of the game, but the MRI confirmed it.”

McVay added that the good news is that he’s not a player, but a coach on the sidelines. Therefore, the limp could add a bit of style. The plantar fascia is a thick tissue that runs along the sole of the foot. McVay did not indicate whether he will need to use a walking boot during his recovery. At 39 years old, McVay was a wide receiver at Miami University of Ohio. During his nine seasons on the Rams’ sideline, he has been an energetic and mobile coach, often running towards the referees to converse or, on occasion, to the end zone to celebrate with his players. The Rams, with a 2-0 record, will face the Philadelphia Eagles, the current Super Bowl champions, next Sunday.
