Quinshon Judkins Ready to Debut with the Browns

Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins is slated to make his NFL debut this Sunday in the Week 2 game against the Baltimore Ravens, sources around the league reported. Judkins, selected with the 36th overall pick in this year’s draft, participated in Thursday and Friday’s practices, marking his return to the team after the conclusion of the mandatory minicamp in June. He was not with the team during training camp due to an arrest on a domestic violence and battery charge in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on July 12. However, on August 14, prosecutors decided not to file formal charges.

On Friday, the Browns designated Judkins as questionable for the game. Coach Kevin Stefanski indicated that the team would evaluate Judkins’ situation in the next 24 hours, highlighting that Judkins had “done everything we’ve asked of him so far.”

Last Saturday, the Browns signed Judkins to a fully guaranteed four-year, $11.4 million contract. Although he didn’t play in the 17-16 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the season opener, he rejoined the team this week. Although Judkins’ situation is being reviewed by the league, he met with the NFL in New York on Wednesday as part of this review, but he was not placed on the commissioner’s exempt list, which allows him to play on Sunday. Judkins’ return could strengthen the Browns’ running game, which struggled against the Bengals, accumulating only 49 rushing yards and averaging 2 yards per carry.
