Jauan Jennings misses the game against the Cardinals due to injury

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings will not be available for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals due to shoulder and ankle injuries.

Jennings missed all three practices last week, although he had been listed as questionable for the NFC West divisional matchup.

Despite dealing with injuries the previous Sunday, Jennings managed five receptions on 10 attempts, totaling 89 yards and a touchdown in the Niners’ Week 2 victory against the New Orleans Saints.

Ricky Pearsall will assume the primary role as wide receiver for San Francisco on Sunday. The receiving corps will be completed by recent additions Kendrick Bourne, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Skyy Moore.

The San Francisco offense, already depleted by injuries, will also be without its star tight end George Kittle and its main wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

The Niners will play for the second consecutive week with Mac Jones as their starting quarterback, as Brock Purdy remains sidelined due to a toe injury. Purdy was also ruled out after being listed as questionable.

Adrian Martinez will be Jones’ backup when the Niners (2-0) host the Cardinals (2-0) in their home opener.
