Travis Hunter misses final preseason game due to injury

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter will not participate in the final preseason game against the Miami Dolphins due to an upper body injury. Head coach Liam Coen confirmed that Hunter will not play on Saturday night, after missing Thursday’s joint practice with the Dolphins. Coen explained that the decision was made to avoid aggravating the injury that had already kept Hunter out of training for three days and out of the second preseason game.

“It was more if we want it now or potentially not [playing against] Carolina [in Week 1],” Coen said.

Coen added that the main goal is for Hunter to be fully recovered for the start of the regular season against Carolina. The same logic was applied to cornerback Tyson Campbell, who also missed Thursday’s practice due to an upper-body injury. Hunter suffered the injury during a scrimmage on August 14 and did not participate in the following day’s training or in the second preseason game against New Orleans. However, he did participate in individual exercises on Tuesday and Wednesday. Coen also confirmed that none of the team’s starters will play in the preseason game against the Dolphins on Saturday night at Hard Rock Stadium.
