Giants Show Patience with Wilson, Rule Out Rushing Dart
Sources close to the New York Giants reveal that there is no “sense of urgency” within the organization to replace Russell Wilson with rookie Jaxson Dart. Although the change in the quarterback position could occur in the future, the Giants prefer to remain calm. The team’s strategy is to allow Wilson to prove his worth and give Dart the time needed for his development. The current situation does not pressure the Giants to accelerate the process. The continued absence of left tackle Andrew Thomas further complicates the situation. Thomas, who is recovering from an injury, is questionable for the upcoming game against the Dallas Cowboys. James Hudson III could, again, take his place. The Giants want Thomas back to protect the blind side of whoever is playing quarterback. The discussion about the possible quarterback change arose after the Giants’ defeat against the Washington Commanders in the first game of the season. Coach Brian Daboll confirmed that Wilson will remain the starter in Week 2. Dart, who was the second quarterback against Washington, focused on being the practice squad quarterback this week, simulating Cowboys player Dak Prescott.Wilson, 36, completed 17 of 37 passes for 168 yards in his debut with the Giants. The team only managed 231 total yards and did not score any touchdowns in the 21-6 loss against the Commanders. Dart commented that his “job is to be the best teammate” for Wilson, ignoring the requests from fans and the media for him to be a starter.I am preparing myself for any opportunity that comes my way. There is no specific game plan, I just try to be prepared and ready when they call me.

When you don’t win, people talk and things like that happen. It’s different when you win. You have to take all that with caution, and my job is to control what I can control and be the best teammate possible.
