Giants Confirm Wilson as QB1 vs Cowboys: Risk or Confidence?

Quarterback Russell Wilson will remain the starter for the New York Giants in the upcoming game against the Dallas Cowboys, according to coach Brian Daboll, who confirmed this Monday.

Daboll’s decision comes after Wilson’s performance in Sunday’s 21-6 loss to the Washington Commanders, where the player failed to stand out.

Wilson completed 17 of 37 passes for 168 yards, with no touchdowns or interceptions. His performance under pressure was particularly poor, completing only 2 of 12 passes for 26 yards, suffering two sacks and two scrambles. New York’s offense only managed a total of 231 yards.

In Sunday’s game, Jaxson Dart, the team’s rookie, acted as Wilson’s backup. Veteran Jameis Winston was the third emergency quarterback.

Dart, selected by the Giants in the first round of this year’s draft, had the majority of the reps with the second team during the summer, impressing in the preseason games with 32 of 47 passes completed for 372 yards and three touchdowns, with no interceptions, in addition to running for a touchdown.
