Giants: Boos for Wilson and clamor for Dart after loss to Chiefs

3 Min Read

In a disappointing encounter at MetLife Stadium, the New York Giants suffered a defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs with a score of 22-9. Coach Brian Daboll understood the fans’ frustration, who expressed their discontent with boos during the match.

I’d be booing too, to be honest, for not being good enough, not scoring, not finishing. I understand that. That’s the nature of this. We have to get better.

Brian Daboll, Giants Coach
After a 3-14 season, an improvement in the team was expected. The arrival of Russell Wilson generated expectations, but the team has not achieved a good start, which has generated concern among the fans. The Giants amassed 281 yards in a performance that drew boos from the crowd. Chants for young quarterback Jaxson Dart to replace Wilson were even heard. Dart participated in three plays as part of a special strategy, but Wilson returned to the field and was also met with boos. Wilson, for his part, acknowledged the harshness of the situation and the need to remain calm.

Obviously, I have been able to demonstrate that throughout my career and, obviously, last week and everything else, too, of what we are capable of as an offense. I think they made a couple more plays than us [on Sunday night]. I think it was a 9-6 game for most of the game. Pretty tight. We needed one or two big plays. Unfortunately, they didn’t happen.

Russell Wilson, Giants Player
Wilson completed 18 of 32 passes for 160 yards, with no touchdowns and two interceptions, very different from his performance the previous week. Chants for Dart arose after Wilson’s second interception. Dart, for his part, was willing to support his teammate, listening to his comments and seeking to learn from the coaches. Daboll did not confirm whether Wilson will be the starter in the next game against the Los Angeles Chargers, maintaining uncertainty in the quarterback position. The atmosphere in the team is one of mutual support, although the players are aware of the fans’ frustration. The team seeks to improve its performance and make the key plays to change the situation.
