David Bell Announces Retirement from the NFL

Cleveland Browns wide receiver David Bell has announced his retirement from the NFL this Tuesday.

Through a social media post, Bell explained that an off-field injury, beyond his control, put his future in American football at risk.

After consulting with medical experts and praying, I accept that continuing to play football would literally risk my life and my limbs.

Bell, 24, was placed on the non-football injury list at the start of training camp. His last game was in Week 2 of the 2024 season, where he suffered a hip injury that ended his season.

Bell, selected in the third round of the 2022 draft, had 41 receptions for 408 yards and three touchdowns in three seasons with the Browns.
