Von Miller Bolsters Commanders’ Defense with Appealing Contract

The renowned edge rusher Von Miller joins the ranks of the Washington Commanders with a deal that promises to be a valuable contribution to the team.

The one-year contract with the Commanders will guarantee Miller a base income of $6.1 million, with the possibility of increasing his earnings through incentives, potentially reaching $10.5 million.

Miller, who reached an agreement with the team on Wednesday, will undergo his physical and sign the contract on Monday at the Commanders’ facilities.

The team veterans will report to training camp on Tuesday, and the first training session will take place the following day.

Miller is expected to specialize in pass rushing for Washington, bringing his vast experience and an impressive career record of 129.5 sacks, including six last season with Buffalo.

Miller’s incorporation comes at a key moment, as the Commanders will seek to improve their performance on defense.

Last season, the team ranked 11th in the NFL with 43 sacks, but only managed five in the final quarter of games. This situation contributed to opposing quarterbacks having a total QBR of 74.8 in the final quarter.

During the offseason, the Commanders focused on strengthening their defensive line, adding Javon Kinlaw, Eddie Goldman, Deatrich Wise Jr., and Jacob Martin.

The main objective is to improve run defense, after finishing 30th in this area last season. In addition, the team was looking to bolster pass rush, after failing to sign veterans like DeMarcus Lawrence and Joey Bosa during free agency.
