Emeka Egbuka Ready to Play with the Buccaneers Despite the Troubles

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ rookie receiver, Emeka Egbuka, is on track to participate in Sunday’s game against the New York Jets, according to sources close to the team. Egbuka, who is questionable due to hip and groin issues, could have a limited role in the encounter. Egbuka’s playing time is expected to be closely monitored, and his participation may be restricted. The player, selected in the 19th draft position, has had a significant impact in the first two games, tied for the league lead with three touchdown receptions. Egbuka missed two days of training this week, but returned to practice on Friday, albeit with limitations, according to Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles.

In case Egbuka can’t play, the Buccaneers could give more opportunities to Ryan Miller, who scored the first touchdown on Monday night in Houston, as well as Sterling Shepard, rookie Tez Johnson and Kameron Johnson, who had a 54-yard return against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1.

The Buccaneers have started the last three seasons with a 2-0 record, but they haven’t achieved a 3-0 start since 2005.
