Bad News for the Browns: Collins Out for the Rest of the Season

The Cleveland Browns have received bad news regarding their defensive line. Starting defensive tackle Maliek Collins will be out for the rest of the season due to a quadriceps injury that will require surgery, according to coach Kevin Stefanski announced on Monday. Collins suffered the injury in the third quarter of the 26-8 home defeat to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. He had to leave the field on a stretcher and was subsequently ruled out for the rest of the game. Collins was having, possibly, his best season in his first year in Cleveland, recording a personal record of 6.5 sacks. In addition, he has been a valuable mentor to many of the team’s young defensive linemen. The Browns signed 30-year-old Collins to a two-year contract worth $20 million last year. In addition, Stefanski reported that right guard Wyatt Teller will be out for a week or two due to a calf injury and will not play on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. Teller rotated at the right guard position with Teven Jenkins against the 49ers before suffering the injury. Meanwhile, right tackle Jack Conklin is in the NFL’s concussion protocol, and rookie running back Dylan Sampson is questionable for Sunday’s game due to a calf injury. Stefanski also said he had no news when asked if the Browns would designate quarterback Deshaun Watson to return to practice from the physically unable to perform list this week. Watson has been out with an Achilles tendon injury he suffered in October 2024.
