A.J. Brown Takes Responsibility and Clarifies Social Media Message
Eagles receiver A.J. Brown took responsibility for the frustration he showed last Sunday. In addition, he clarified that his social media post was not directed at anyone within the team, including quarterback Jalen Hurts. Brown, who had a discreet performance in the 31-25 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with only two receptions for 7 yards in nine attempts, decided not to speak to the media after the game. Shortly after the meeting, Brown posted a Bible quote on X that read: “If you are not welcome, they do not listen to you, retreat in silence. Do not make a spectacle. Shrug your shoulders and go your way.” Brown’s season start has been relatively quiet, with 14 receptions for 151 yards and a touchdown on 28 attempts. His average of 10.8 yards per reception is below his career average of 15.6. The Eagles, with a 4-0 record, are ranked 31st in passing yards, with 138 yards per game.Brown also commented on his communication with Hurts, mentioning that they discuss things in weekly meetings to improve. During games, he said there isn’t much conversation between the two because he’s not the type of player to approach the quarterback to ask for the ball. Hurts, for his part, described his relationship with Brown as “good” and added that they share a great passion for the game and are focused on the week. The friendship between Hurts and Brown dates back to before they played together in Philadelphia, when Hurts tried to recruit Brown for Alabama. Brown said he is happy in Philadelphia, despite his recent frustrations.“I don’t think it’s a bad thing to want the ball. It’s not just for the attempts or anything, to put up numbers, no. I see that we’re struggling and I’m a guy who wants the ball in those moments when we can’t find a way. Give it to me. When the game is on the line, give me the ball. I want that, I want that pressure, I put it on myself and I work hard for it.”
