Logan Wilson Requests a Trade: Surprise Move in the Bengals

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson has requested a trade, according to sources close to the team. The news marks an unexpected turn for the player who has been a starter in the seven games played this season. Wilson, who is in his sixth season, has seen his playing time on the field reduced. Rookies Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight Jr. have taken on a more prominent role in the team’s defense. In the Week 6 game against the Green Bay Packers, Wilson participated in only 19.7% of the defensive plays. Four days later, against the Pittsburgh Steelers, his presence increased to 47.5% in a crucial victory. Wilson has two years left on his contract extension for $36 million, signed in 2023. This season, the Bengals are ranked 25th in terms of yards allowed per rushing attempt. Bengals coach Zac Taylor has reiterated his confidence in the young players on defense. Wilson, selected in the third round of the 2020 draft, has been a key piece in Cincinnati’s defense. He was a starter on the team that reached the Super Bowl in 2021. In six seasons with the Bengals, he has accumulated 75 starts, six forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and 11 interceptions.

Our relationship hasn’t changed at all. I still depend on him a lot for many things, and I ask him questions every day. He has been a great leader, just as he has been since the first day I arrived here.
