49ers Secure Colton McKivitz with a Multi-Million Dollar Contract
In a strategic move, the San Francisco 49ers have finalized a contract agreement with right tackle Colton McKivitz. This three-year, $45 million contract, which includes $27 million guaranteed, secures McKivitz’s stay with the team through the 2028 season. The agreement was reached after McKivitz expressed his desire to continue in San Francisco, showing a mutual commitment between the player and the organization. This new contract represents a significant increase compared to the one-year, $7 million extension McKivitz signed in March 2024. McKivitz’s decision to stay with the 49ers, the team that drafted him in the fifth round of the 2020 draft, demonstrates his loyalty and his desire to continue his development within the organization. Niners coach Kyle Shanahan had also expressed his desire to retain McKivitz, highlighting his importance to the team. McKivitz has been a key player for the 49ers, especially since he became a full-time starter in 2023, without missing any games.“I think it’s pretty open right now. Nothing crazy is happening, but both sides have said we want to be here, which I like. I love playing here. I love being a part of this team and they’ve reciprocated. So, when it comes, I’ll be excited, but we’ll see.”
