ATLANTA – Atlanta Hawks star point guard Trae Young is showing good recovery from his right knee medial collateral ligament (MCL) sprain. The team has reported that he will be re-evaluated in approximately two weeks.

Young suffered the injury during the Hawks’ victory in Brooklyn on October 29. Since then, he has been absent for 15 consecutive games and his return was anticipated to be in mid-December.

Before Friday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the point guard took some warm-up shots.

In the current season, the current leader in assists averages 17.8 points and 7.8 assists per game. The Hawks have achieved a 10-5 record since Young injured his knee.

In Young’s absence, forward Jalen Johnson has taken on a more prominent role, recording 10 double-doubles, including two triple-doubles, during the 15 games that Young has been out.
