LeBron James: Key Voice in the Lakers’ Defeat
Following the Lakers’ initial defeat against the Golden State Warriors (119-109), coach JJ Redick highlighted the importance of LeBron James’ involvement in the game analysis. Despite being absent from the first regular season game due to sciatica issues in his lower back and right leg, James played an active role in the video session. Redick mentioned that James, who was wearing a suit and glasses, was attentive during the game review. The coach emphasized James’s help during the session, where defensive errors were analyzed, such as allowing too many three-pointers to Stephen Curry and Buddy Hield. The technical staff pointed out that the Lakers failed to properly defend Curry and Hield’s transition shots. Redick emphasized the need to correct this aspect and foster dialogue within the team, something that James, 40 years old, actively promotes. In the game, Hield and Curry combined for 8 of 19 in three-pointers, while the Lakers had 8 of 32 as a team. In addition, the Lakers were outscored in bench points (33-18) and in the third quarter (35-25), missed 11 free throws and committed 20 turnovers, resulting in 22 points for the Warriors. Lakers guard Gabe Vincent pointed out that the video review revealed clear areas for improvement. Forward Jarred Vanderbilt added that, although the result was not ideal, there are controllable aspects that can change the course of the game. Regarding Luka Doncic’s health, who required treatment on his right leg after the game, Redick was optimistic. Doncic, who scored 43 points in 41 minutes, seems to be fine and participated in practice. Doncic’s availability is crucial, especially with James out, as the Lakers seek to establish greater team cohesion. Redick is confident that the team will reach a level of connection and confidence similar to that at the end of last season.LeBron was very helpful.
