Malcolm Brogdon Bolsters the Knicks with a One-Year Contract

Experienced guard Malcolm Brogdon has reached an agreement to join the New York Knicks on a one-year contract, according to his agent Sam Permut of Roc Nation.

With ten seasons in the NBA, Brogdon, recognized as the Sixth Man of the Year, will provide depth and playmaking ability off the bench for the New York team. Brogdon is expected to have an important role in the coach’s rotation, joining Landry Shamet, who also signed a one-year contract to strengthen the Knicks’ roster.

In the previous season, Brogdon, 32 years old, averaged 12.7 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds in 24 games with the Washington Wizards. Despite his low three-point percentage (29%) last season, Brogdon proved to be an efficient shooter with a 43% success rate on three-pointers between the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, ranking fourth among players with at least 300 attempts in that period.

Brogdon, who won the Rookie of the Year award in 2016-17 and the Sixth Man of the Year in 2022-23, is one of two players in NBA history to earn both recognitions, along with Mike Miller.

In the last three seasons, Brogdon has played for the Wizards, Portland Trail Blazers, and Boston Celtics. Previously, he split his first six seasons in the league with the Milwaukee Bucks and the Indiana Pacers.
