Ja Morant, out for the rest of the season due to injury

Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant will not play again this season due to a sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow, the team announced Tuesday night.

Morant, a two-time NBA All-Star, only participated in 20 games this season. The Grizzlies explored the possibility of trading him before the February deadline, but didn’t find much interest from other teams.

Morant’s elbow injury occurred on January 21, in the second game he played after returning from a two-week absence due to calf discomfort.

According to the team, Morant recently consulted about how to treat persistent elbow discomfort. It was recommended that he receive a platelet-rich plasma injection to optimize ligament healing. He is expected to be ready for the start of the 2026-27 season.

Morant has played a total of only 79 games in the last three seasons due to multiple suspensions and various injuries. He has two seasons and 87 million dollars left on his contract.
