Giannis Antetokounmpo Out Due to Injury: Estimated Recovery Time
Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo suffered a low-grade left groin strain and will be out for one to two weeks, according to sources. The news comes after the injury suffered by Antetokounmpo during Monday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.Bucks coach Doc Rivers called the injury “good news” in an interview on the “Courtside with Gale Klappa” podcast. Rivers explained that Antetokounmpo began to feel discomfort in his groin from the first quarter of Monday’s game and grabbed his left groin several times before leaving the game. With 3:03 remaining in the second quarter, Antetokounmpo limped down the court on defense before committing a foul and heading to the Bucks’ locker room. Antetokounmpo has had a spectacular start to the season, averaging 32.6 points with 63% shooting efficiency, 11.3 rebounds, and 7.1 assists in his first 12 games. The Bucks have relied even more on their superstar, with a usage rate of 36.4%, the second-highest in the NBA before Monday and Antetokounmpo’s highest since the 2022-23 season.I don’t know the extent of it, but I know it’s not serious, which is good news for us. However, he’ll probably be out for two weeks. We’ll see. Hopefully less, but that’s most likely the range.
Doc Rivers, Bucks Coach
Without their star, the Bucks were outscored 59-49 and only made 38.6% of their shots after halftime against the Cavs, losing consecutive games for the first time this season. The Bucks fell to 8-7 with the loss, and have a 1-1 record in the games that Antetokounmpo has missed this season.
