Bulls to Retire Derrick Rose’s Jersey: Ceremony on January 24th

The Chicago Bulls announced that they will hold a ceremony to retire Derrick Rose’s jersey on January 24, 2026. The iconic number 1 of Rose will ascend to the heights of the United Center after the game against the Boston Celtics.

A Deserved Honor

Rose’s jersey will join those of Jerry Sloan (4), Bob Love (10), Michael Jordan (23) and Scottie Pippen (33), solidifying his legacy in the history of the franchise. Derrick Rose, a Chicago native, retired before the start of the 2024-25 season, after a 15-year career in the NBA. He was the first draft pick for the Bulls, where he played for eight seasons. His impact was immediate, winning the Rookie of the Year award in 2009 and becoming the youngest Most Valuable Player (MVP) in league history in 2011. That same year, he led the Bulls to a 62-20 record and the Eastern Conference Finals, the team’s best mark since the Michael Jordan era. Throughout his career, Rose also played for the Knicks, Pistons, Timberwolves, Cavs and Grizzlies, participating in 723 games and being selected for the All-Star Game three times. Last January, the Bulls already paid tribute to Rose after his retirement, including the proclamation of “Derrick Rose Day” in Chicago and the franchise’s announcement to retire his jersey.
