Emmanuel Rodríguez Leaves the Águilas Cibaeñas
SANTO DOMINGO – Outfielder Emmanuel Rodríguez will no longer participate with the Águilas Cibaeñas, following the decision by the Minnesota Twins, his team in the Major Leagues, to limit his participation in order to manage his workload.
Rodríguez, who quickly won the affection of the Aguilas fans in his debut in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), is leaving the tournament after leaving statistics that established him as one of the most outstanding figures of the championship.
In 19 games, Rodriguez exhibited a batting average of .292, an on-base percentage (OBP) of .417, and an OPS of 1.063. In addition, he hit 4 home runs, drove in 11 runs, and stole 3 bases.
Considered the fourth-best prospect in the Minnesota organization and projected to debut in MLB in 2026, the Twins seek to minimize risks due to his injury history, thus protecting his health for next year.
The decision responds to the natural process of Major League prospects.
The leader of the Eagles, Luis “Pipe” Urueta, commented that other young talents are also close to finishing their participation in the tournament, including Adael Amador and Ángel Genao.
Rodríguez’s departure represents a significant loss for the Cibao team, which loses one of its most effective hitters and one of the figures with the greatest potential in the league.
