Latino Duel Defines Mariners’ Victory Over Angels

Anaheim – The Latin offense shone brightly in a crucial match for Seattle. Julio Rodríguez, from the Dominican Republic, and Randy Arozarena, from Cuba, hit consecutive home runs that propelled the Mariners to a 4-2 victory over the Angels in the first game of the series at Angel Stadium. Rodríguez kicked off the offensive with a solo home run that tied the score, accumulating 15 home runs this season. This achievement makes him the first player in MLB history to record at least 20 stolen bases and 15 home runs in each of his first four seasons. Arozarena, for his part, connected a powerful hit at 110.4 mph that surpassed the left field fence, putting Seattle ahead 3-1. This was Arozarena’s eleventh home run since June 30, tying him with Eugenio Suárez as MLB leaders in that period. The Mariners’ offense has shown strength, with a collective OPS of .783 since July 8, ranking fourth in Major League Baseball, just before the arrival of Josh Naylor following his trade from Arizona. With this victory, the Mariners strengthen their position in the postseason race.
