OYM University Secures Spot in 2026 Playoffs After Defeating MOCA FC
In a crucial match that defined the last spot for the Liguilla 2026, Universidad OYM demonstrated their superiority by defeating MOCA Fútbol Club with a score of 1-3. This result grants them passage to the next phase of the Dominican Republic Football League (LDF).
The match, played at the Moca 85 stadium, began with MOCA FC taking the lead. Yohan Parra, with an outstanding individual play in the 7th minute, scored the first goal, putting the score 1-0 in favor of the aurinegros.
The OYM University responded at minute 34, with Ányelo Gómez equalizing the score 1-1. Before the end of the first half, Gustavo Ascona missed a penalty, maintaining the tie before halftime.
In the second half, MOCA FC sought to regain the lead, but their attempts were unsuccessful. Keudy Jiménez and Gustavo Ascona had clear opportunities, but they failed to capitalize.
The OYM University, on the other hand, took advantage of its opportunities. Enmanuel Cuello scored a goal from mid-range in the 76th minute, putting the score at 1-2. Four minutes later, Ányelo Gómez scored his second goal of the match, sealing the 1-3 victory in the 80th minute.
With this result and the 1-1 draw between Atlántico FC and Jarabacoa FC, Universidad OYM secured its qualification to the Liguilla 2026. MOCA FC, for its part, closes the regular season with an eye on the future.
