Lando Norris Secures Pole Position in the Miami Grand Prix Sprint

British driver Lando Norris, behind the wheel of a McLaren, has confirmed his team’s resurgence by securing pole position for the sprint race of the Miami Grand Prix, corresponding to the fourth date of the Formula 1 world championship.

Norris set the best time in the sprint qualifying, stopping the clock at 1:27.069 and beating Italian Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who currently leads the championship and races for Mercedes, by 222 thousandths of a second.

Oscar Piastri, also from McLaren, took third place, solidifying a strong performance for the British team.

The second row of the grid will be composed of Piastri and the Monegasque Charles Leclerc of Ferrari, while Max Verstappen of Red Bull will start from fifth position.

The sprint, scheduled for 19 laps, will award points to the top eight finishers.

On the grid, there will also be the Argentinian Franco Colapinto, who will start from eighth position, alongside seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso, both Spaniards, will start the race from the 15th and last position on the grid, respectively, on a challenging day for Aston Martin. Sergio Pérez, from Mexico, will start from the 19th position.

The championship arrives in Miami after a break due to the cancellation of races in the Middle East. During this period, the FIA implemented modifications to the technical regulations to balance the use of electrical energy and improve safety on the track.

With this result, McLaren shows signs of recovery after a season start with ups and downs, emerging as a major contender in this crucial weekend in the United States.
