Kei Nishikori Announces Retirement from Professional Tennis

TOKYO – Japanese tennis player Kei Nishikori has confirmed that he will retire from professional tennis at the end of the current season. The news comes after several years of battling injuries that limited his participation in the circuit. The former world number four announced his decision through an official statement, expressing his pride in his career. “I have given everything I had. I am happy with the path I have taken and will enjoy every match I have left,” Nishikori declared. At 36 years old, Nishikori acknowledged that constant injuries affected his performance and prevented him from competing at the desired level, although he always maintained his passion for tennis as motivation. Throughout his career, the Japanese tennis player left a significant mark on the history of tennis, being the first player from his country to play in a Grand Slam final, an achievement reached at the 2014 US Open.
