I made the decision and listened to my heart. Santos is not just a team, it’s my home, my roots, my history, and my life.

With this renewal, the former FC Barcelona forward will participate in the entirety of the Brazilian Championship, where Santos is in fifteenth position, close to the relegation zone. Neymar’s original contract with Santos expired on June 30th, which led to speculation about his future during the last month. Since his return to Brazil on January 31, Neymar has played 12 matches, scoring three goals and providing three assists. His arrival represented a hope for Santos, who was looking for a good season to secure their permanence in the first division. However, the player has suffered two muscle injuries that have kept him out of the fields in several matches, including the semifinal of the Campeonato Paulista, which Santos lost against Corinthians. Neymar has expressed his desire to recover in the Brazilian team, with his sights set on representing the national team again.

Despite not being included in the first call-up by the new coach, Carlo Ancelotti, the Italian coach has included him in the list of 50 pre-selected players and has assured that he “counts” on Neymar in the team.
