Neymar undergoes medical exams after missing Brazil training
Teresópolis, Brazil – Brazilian forward Neymar did not participate in the first training session of the Brazilian national team this Wednesday and was taken to a clinic for further examinations, according to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
The player, called up by coach Carlo Ancelotti for the 2026 World Cup, arrived at the Granja Comary training center along with the rest of the players called up, but then was absent from the afternoon practice.
In a statement, the CBF explained that Neymar was taken to a local clinic for additional medical evaluations, without offering details about his physical condition.
Neymar has been dealing with discomfort since May 17, when he suffered edema in his calf during a Brasileirao match with Santos. The club’s medical department reported a small calf injury, although he was expected to arrive in optimal condition for the national team’s training camp.
This situation has generated uncertainty about the player’s physical condition, who has not played with the senior national team since his serious knee injury in October 2023.
Neymar’s call-up by Ancelotti surprised in Brazil, as the coach had not called him since he took over the management in May 2025. However, the coach justified his decision after observing a positive evolution in his physical condition and greater competitive continuity with Santos.
The CBF has indicated that it will not provide any further information until all the footballer’s medical evaluations are completed.
