Sports Exchange Strengthens Ties between the Dominican Republic and Japan

Within the framework of the official visit to the Dominican Republic by the mayor of Matsumoto, Japan, Yoshinao Gaun, and a delegation of young athletes, the Directorate of the National Baseball Commissioner (DCNB) supported an agenda of sports, educational, and cultural exchange. This initiative seeks to strengthen cooperation between both nations through sports and the comprehensive development of youth. The program included institutional meetings and visits to renowned baseball academies. The Japanese delegation was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex) by authorities from the Dominican Foreign Ministry, including the executive director of the DCNB, Junior Noboa. During the meeting, the signing of a Partnership Agreement between the municipalities of La Romana and Matsumoto was discussed, as well as the promotion of sports and cultural exchange. In representation of the DCNB, Fernando Rodríguez, Luis Fernando Taveras and Diógenes de la Cruz participated, who provided technical and institutional support. The delegation visited the Dodgers Baseball Academy, where its director, Jesús Negrete, presented the training model. They also visited the Hiroshima Toyo Carp Academy in San Pedro de Macorís. In these activities, representatives from Mirex were present, including Ambassador Jorge Santiago and Ambassador Lidia Hernández. The coordination of this visit was carried out through diplomatic channels, with the support of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Japan. The young Japanese baseball players, aged between 12 and 14, positively valued the Dominican baseball development system.

This exchange reaffirms the Dominican Republic as a benchmark in the training of baseball talent.

The DCNB reiterated its commitment to promote baseball as a strategic axis for the integral development of youth and the international projection of the country.
