London, July 1 – French tennis player Giovanni Mpetschi Perricard has made history at Wimbledon by recording the fastest serve ever seen at the tournament. The powerful serve reached a speed of 246 kilometers per hour during his match against American Taylor Fritz. This impressive record surpasses the previous mark, set in 2010 by American Taylor Dent, who achieved a serve at 238 kilometers per hour.Despite the amazing speed of Perricard’s service, Fritz managed to return the ball and win the point. The match, however, was interrupted before the start of the fifth set due to the curfew in effect at Wimbledon, which prevents the continuation of games after 11:00 PM local time. The suspension occurred with 45 minutes still available to play. The organization consulted both players about the possibility of continuing, to which Fritz responded affirmatively, while Perricard refused, after having had a 5-1 lead and the serve in his favor in the fourth set ‘tie break’.The match will resume on Tuesday, and the winner will face Canadian Gabriel Diallo on Wednesday.
