Milwaukee Brewers Celebrate Divisional Title

The Milwaukee Brewers have secured their spot in the postseason for the third consecutive season and the fourth in the last five years, by being crowned champions of the National League Central Division. Despite falling to the Cardinals with a score of 5-1, the Cubs’ loss in Cincinnati secured them the title, unleashing celebrations in the visiting locker room at Busch Stadium. This achievement marks the Brewers’ seventh postseason trip in the last eight years, solidifying their dominance in the league. Until 2008, the franchise had accumulated 26 seasons without qualifying.

Every year is different, but every time you get to the playoffs, and especially every time you win the division, that’s not something that’s just handed to you. It’s very special.

Rickie Weeks, former player and now associate manager of Milwaukee.
The team, led by Pat Murphy, overcame a complicated start to the season, with a 0-4 record in the first games, and faced significant losses in the pitching staff, including Brandon Woodruff, José Quintana, Trevor Megill, and DL Hall. With impressive winning streaks, Milwaukee established itself as the team with the best record in Major League Baseball, also leading in run differential, with a high-performing offense and defense. Dominican Freddy Peralta has been fundamental in the pitching rotation, and young talents like Brice Turang and Venezuelan William Contreras have established themselves as key pieces of the team.

This year is a little different because we started off badly. Nobody thought we were going to have the best record in the league. That’s great for us.

William Contreras
The divisional championship secures the Brewers one of the top two spots in the National League and a direct pass to the Divisional Series, which will begin on Saturday, October 4th at American Family Field. The team will look to break the streak in October: since the 2018 Championship Series, Milwaukee has a 2-11 playoff record and is still looking to return to a World Series for the first time since 1982.
