La Romana Inaugurates Miguel Infante School Games in Honor of Sports and Education

La Romana, within the framework of the Month of the Homeland, was the scene of the inauguration of the Miguel Infante School Games. The activity, organized by the Education Regional 05 of La Romana, in collaboration with the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI), was attended by local authorities, directors of educational centers, teachers, parents and a large number of student athletes. The inaugural event took place in the sports center of the Inmaculada Corazón Educational Center, an institution with a long history in the education of young people in the eastern region of the country. In total, twenty educational centers and more than five hundred students participated in the opening parade, which was held to the beat of patriotic marches.

These games pay tribute to Professor Miguel Infante, a renowned physical educator from La Romana, who dedicated his life to the integral formation of children and young people through sports. His children and widow were present at the ceremony, expressing their gratitude to the authorities for honoring the legacy of the one who instilled values and a passion for physical education in numerous generations.

“For us, it is a great commitment to sponsor and support these types of initiatives that directly impact our youth. From INEFI, following the guidelines of President Luis Abinader, we continue to work so that every student in the country has access to decent facilities, organized competitions, and trained coaches. These games represent an opportunity to discover talents, but above all to strengthen the integral formation of our youth”

Alberto Rodríguez, executive director of INEFI
The competitions will take place in various sports disciplines, thus promoting physical activity and the integral development of the students.
