LIDOM Suspends Autumn-Winter Tournament Day Due to Tropical Storm

Santo Domingo – The Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) announced the suspension of the Wednesday, October 22nd game of the 2025-2026 fall-winter tournament, dedicated to don Juan Marichal and in dispute for the BanReservas Cup. The decision was made following the recommendations of the Government and the Emergency Operations Center (COE) in light of the possible effects of Tropical Storm Melissa. This measure responds to the declaration of a red alert for several provinces of the country, including Gran Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Peravia, Azua, Barahona, Pedernales, San José de Ocoa and San Juan de la Maguana, prioritizing the protection of human life and material goods. The matches scheduled for Wednesday were:
  • Leones del Escogido vs. Gigantes del Cibao at Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, 7:15 p.m.
  • Toros del Este vs. Tigres del Licey at Francisco Micheli Park in La Romana, 7:30 p.m.
  • Estrellas Orientales vs. Águilas Cibaeñas at Tetelo Vargas Stadium in San Pedro de Macorís, 7:30 p.m.
LIDOM, which had already suspended Tuesday’s games for the same reasons, will inform in due course the new date for these matches, keeping constant monitoring of the evolution of the atmospheric phenomenon and coordinating with the relevant authorities. The Emergency Operations Center (COE) and the State’s response agencies remain in permanent session under the supervision of President Luis Abinader, Vice President Raquel Peña, and General Juan Manuel Méndez, director of the COE.
