Licey Tigers: Summer Camp Visits MLB Academies

The Licey Tigers’ summer camp continues its tour of Major League academies in the Dominican Republic, recently visiting the New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers facilities. During the visit to the Mets academy, the staff guided the young participants through all areas of the sports complex. The objective was to show the quality of life, commitment, and values that are instilled in the players on their path to professionalism. Gary Peralta, assistant to the director of international operations for the Milwaukee Brewers, led the tour of their facilities. The visit included areas such as the gym, the conference room, the offices, and the training room. The day at the Brewers’ academy concluded with a baseball game between the locals and the Miami Marlins, corresponding to the 2025 season of the Dominican Summer League. In addition, the young people enjoyed an educational talk with executives from the team based in Wisconsin, United States, where relevant topics for the participants of the eleventh edition of the Licey Summer Camp were addressed. Hundreds of boys and girls, from the age of five, are enjoying this experience, drawn by the success of previous editions of the “Licey Summer Camp”. The activities extend until 1:00 in the afternoon and will end on July 18. The camp is supported by an orthopedic doctor and the National Health Service (SNS), which provides a permanent ambulance service with four paramedics. Licey has also established an agreement with Major League Baseball’s office in the Dominican Republic, offering talks given by trained coaches on topics such as nutrition, steroid abuse, document integrity, education, and civic discipline.
