Licey Tigers Institute the “Manny Mota Award”
SANTO DOMINGO – The Tigres del Licey have announced the creation of the “Manny Mota Award”, an annual recognition that will celebrate players who exemplify ethical, sporting, and human values both on and off the field. The announcement was made during the presentation of the team for the 2025-26 season, an event led by Miguel Ángel Fernández, former president and current treasurer of the team, along with captain Emilio Bonifacio.The award is inspired by the career of Manny Mota, an emblematic figure for his perseverance, dedication, and generosity. The “Manny Mota Award” will distinguish those players who, in addition to their performance on the field, demonstrate the fundamental values of Licey: commitment, respect, empathy, and leadership with purpose.“The Tigres del Licey proudly present the Manny Mota Award, a recognition that honors the player who combines sporting excellence with human greatness,” Fernández affirmed.

The jury in charge of selecting the winner will be composed of various personalities who represent the essence of the Club Atlético Licey, including members of the board of directors, the general manager, representatives of the women’s branch and public relations, among others. This award seeks to recognize the humanity behind the uniform, highlighting that true victory is achieved when sport becomes an instrument of humanity.“With this recognition, the Tigres del Licey celebrate not only the player, but the human being who uses his platform to inspire and transform,” he added.
