This result marks a new setback for Alcaraz in this tournament, adding to the elimination suffered the previous year. Korda, number 36 in the world, defeated the number 1 in the ATP ranking with partials of 6-3, 5-7 and 6-4, in a match that lasted 2 hours and 17 minutes. The match recalled Alcaraz’s feelings after his elimination in Indian Wells, where the Spaniard expressed feeling a “target on his back” due to the extra motivation generated by his rivals.Alcaraz’s frustration was evident during the match, even expressing his desire to quit the match.
