Santo Domingo, RD. The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kelvin Cruz, started the construction of two multi-purpose roofed areas in the Bayona and Ensanche Altagracia sectors, located in the Santo Domingo Oeste municipality. The total investment for these sports facilities exceeds 49 million pesos. This project is part of the construction and repair program for sports spaces implemented by the Ministry of Sports in Greater Santo Domingo, with the support of President Luis Abinader. The Iván Klang Guzmán clubs, from Bayona, and Quinto Centenario, from Ensanche La Altagracia, join the 30 sectors that have already benefited from multi-purpose roofing in Gran Santo Domingo. The groundbreaking ceremony for the constructions was held simultaneously at the Iván Klang Guzmán club’s court. Minister Cruz headed the event, accompanied by authorities from Santo Domingo Oeste. The investment in the Iván Klang Guzmán club will be RD$ 25,952,809, while the Quinto Centenario club will have a cost of RD$ 23,706,337.
The minister added that the initiative responds to the need of these two sectors, which are representative of society and demand these improvements. He highlighted that, before these interventions, there was only one roof in Santo Domingo Oeste, that of Las Caobas, which was deteriorated and has already been rebuilt. The mayor of Santo Domingo Oeste, Francisco Peña, was present at the event along with deputies Indir de Jesús and Ignacio Aracena. Also in attendance were Escarlet Benzan, Félix Grullón, José Moya, and Francisco Campusano. Both facilities will be renovated in the play areas, stands, perimeter fencing and outdoor areas. Among the improvements, digital whiteboards, professional board supports with FIBA boards, synthetic floors, and ceilings with a metallic structure will be installed.Today we completed this great work in Santo Domingo, where 31 sports facilities are being built simultaneously with an investment of 800 million pesos, thanks to the vision and sensitivity towards sports of President Luis Abinader.
